Oko Fine Cuisine
About us
It all started with a vision to bridge cultures through food. Chef Cliff Mills, the creative force behind OKO Fine Cuisine, began this journey with a revolutionary concept: the Afro Taco. This wasn't just fusion for the sake of fusion – it was a celebration of his heritage and a testament to how food can tell stories, connect communities, and create something entirely new.
The Afro Taco represents the beautiful intersection of African spices, Mexican techniques, and American innovation. Imagine perfectly seasoned jollof rice nestled in a warm tortilla, topped with succulent grilled meats seasoned with traditional African spices, fresh vegetables, and house-made sauces that dance between continents.
From Food Truck to Fine Dining
What began as a beloved food truck serving the streets of New Jersey has evolved into OKO Fine Cuisine, a full-service restaurant that has captured the hearts and palates of food lovers across the region. The transition from wheels to a permanent home at 437 Main Street in West Orange represents more than just a change of location - it's the realization of a dream.
Chef Cliff's dedication to authentic flavors and innovative combinations earned recognition from NJ.com, naming OKO Fine Cuisine one of the top 21 restaurants in New Jersey and highlighting it as one of the best Black-owned restaurants to try in 2025.
